How to Get Glastonbury Tickets: What You Need to Know

Getting Glastonbury tickets works a little differently from buying tickets for most concerts or festivals.

There is no normal fan-to-fan resale marketplace, no ticket transfer system and no legitimate way to simply buy somebody else's personalised ticket after the sale.

If you want to go to Glastonbury, the important thing is understanding the Festival's official ticket process and being ready before tickets go on sale.

For Glastonbury 2027, the Festival has said that full ticket and accommodation booking information will be released in Autumn 2026. Until that happens, exact sale dates, prices and booking arrangements should not be treated as confirmed.

Register before tickets go on sale

The first thing you need is a valid Glastonbury registration.

For recent Festivals, everyone aged 13 or over who wants a ticket has needed their own registration, including basic personal details and a passport-style photograph.

That photograph is important. Glastonbury tickets are personalised to the registered ticket holder, rather than being ordinary transferable tickets that can simply be sent to somebody else.

Registration does not reserve you a ticket or improve your chances in the sale. It simply makes you eligible to try to buy one.

It is worth sorting this well in advance. Glastonbury normally suspends registration around ticket-sale periods, and photographs may need to be reviewed or resubmitted.

Get your group organised before sale day

If you're hoping to go as a group, don't wait until tickets are going on sale to start collecting everyone's details.

In recent Glastonbury sales, one person has been able to book for several registered people, provided they have the registration information required for everyone in the booking.

That means the useful preparation happens beforehand:

• make sure everybody who wants to go is registered;
• check registration details are still correct;
• make sure everyone's photograph is still a good likeness;
• have the required registration details somewhere easy to access;
• agree who in the group is going to try for tickets.

The exact rules for the 2027 sale have not yet been announced, so check the Festival's official information when it is published rather than assuming every detail will work exactly as it did previously.

Buy through the official Glastonbury ticket sale

Glastonbury says See Tickets is the only authorised seller of general admission Festival tickets.

Demand is famously much higher than supply, so being registered does not guarantee that you'll get a ticket.

When the 2027 sale is announced, use the links and instructions published by Glastonbury itself rather than searching for a ticket site on sale day.

That also matters later. Glastonbury warns fans against tickets offered through unofficial agents, touts and other people online.

What if you don't get Glastonbury tickets in the main sale?

Missing the main sale does not necessarily mean you've run out of chances.

For previous Festivals, cancelled or returned tickets have later been made available again through an official Glastonbury resale.

The word "resale" is slightly misleading if you're used to ordinary concert-ticket resale.

You are not buying a ticket directly from another fan.

Instead, tickets that have been returned or cancelled go back into Glastonbury's official allocation and are made available again through the Festival's authorised ticketing process.

For 2027, wait for Glastonbury to confirm whether there will be an official resale and exactly how it will operate.

Can you swap Glastonbury tickets?

No.

This is one of the important ways Glastonbury differs from most of the events Swoppd is designed for.

Glastonbury states that its tickets are personalised and strictly non-transferable. Tickets are linked to the registered ticket holder, include their photograph and are checked when people arrive at the Festival.

That means somebody who can no longer go cannot simply transfer their Glastonbury ticket into your name.

It also means Swoppd cannot facilitate Glastonbury ticket swaps.

A protected swap cannot make a non-transferable ticket transferable, and we would rather be completely clear about that than suggest there is a workaround when there isn't.

What if a friend can no longer go?

Their ticket does not become a spare ticket that they can give to somebody else.

Where Glastonbury's refund rules allow it, the ticket holder may be able to cancel or return their ticket.

A returned ticket may subsequently become part of an official resale, but it is not reserved for a particular friend and cannot simply be reassigned to them.

So if somebody says, "My friend can't go anymore, I'll just change the ticket into your name", that is not how the normal Glastonbury ticketing process works.

Be careful with Glastonbury tickets offered online

This is especially important with Glastonbury because a convincing-looking ticket is not the same thing as a usable ticket.

The Festival has repeatedly warned fans about unofficial sellers and ticket scams.

A photograph of a ticket, an order confirmation or somebody promising that "they don't really check the names" does not change the fact that Glastonbury tickets are personalised and non-transferable.

If you miss out, the sensible route is to follow Glastonbury's official announcements and wait for any legitimate opportunity to buy returned tickets.
